At Flow Genomics, we are accelerating scientific discovery and improving human health by saving researchers their most important asset with our next-day DNA sequencing service: time. We are seeking a motivated Laboratory and Operations Manager to join our growing team and contribute to building Canada’s next-day sequencing service.

The Opportunity:

As the Laboratory and Operations Manager, you will be the backbone of our lab and logistics operations. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our facility and operational workflows, ensuring that our scientific team has the resources, tools, and processes needed to maintain our high standards of speed and quality. This role is perfect for a highly organized individual with a strong foundation in laboratory management, a keen eye for operational efficiency, and an eagerness to take ownership of complex, mission-critical processes.

Work Hours: In-Person, Monday - Friday, (Standard business hours, some flexibility required to support operations).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics management: Streamline and manage the end-to-end operational workflow, including sample receipt, logistics for our drop-box network, and coordination of laboratory operations.
  • Lab Management and Supervision : Take charge of day-to-day laboratory operations, including managing reagent and consumable inventory, overseeing instrument maintenance schedules, and ensuring the lab adheres to all safety and quality standards.
  • Inventory & Procurement: Manage and optimize the inventory system for all reagents, consumables, and critical supplies.
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain meticulous and organized records in our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Clearly communicate progress, challenges, and results to the team in regular meetings.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • A BSc or MSc in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3+ years of hands-on experience in a molecular biology or genomics laboratory.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a process-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • You have demonstrated you are a continuous learner.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced industry environment.
  • Experience managing logistics or supply chain operations.
  • Experience with laboratory automation or liquid handling systems.
  • Familiarity with the operations of DNA sequencing or molecular biology workflows.

This is a full-time position that requires a significant amount of in-person work and collaboration onsite at our office in Toronto, Ontario. If you are unable to relocate or commute to the Toronto area, this role won't be a match.
